My reading habits
I hardly ever read
for pleasure as the main reason. Most of the time, I do it following a twofold
objective: work-information, education-information, pleasure-education. My
reading habits still have to do either with my field of specialization or with
education. I have just finished my doctoral thesis and I think this fact has
modelled my reading habits.
I usually read
in different languages, I prefer to get the authors’ points of view directly
from their hand. Some other times it is so because I am comparing original texts
with their translations. I never read poems or lyrics, but plenty of blogs,
websites, articles, textbooks, and emails, etc. texts that are more commonly
related to work, studies or self-development.
I also read
graded texts to find materials for my students. In a more personal sphere, I
enjoy reading blogs about productivity, finance, house making, family caring,
etc. I usually access this type of information in an online format. I read
during my breaks and at night if I cannot sleep easily. I always read in
English, because the information is more updated and as a way to improve my
expression.
I really hope my
habits will evolve with time. I am trying my best to include reading for
pleasure with my children. I would love them to have that habit before they
start reading compulsory at school “to pass their subjects”.
